Bhutan- a miraculous land, last of the Himalayan kingdoms, where ancient traditions reign and national success is judged not on wealth or power but on the health and happiness of each and every citizen, and the natural world around them. Such a unique locale has captured the imaginations of many from the outside, including Amouage creative director Christopher Chong, who presents Figment as a tribute to this miraculous country. And what a tribute it is, a gorgeously impressionistic white floral that seamlessly measures out delicate spice and subtle woods with a marvelous bouquet to sweep us into a positively dreamlike trance.
Launched in 2017, Figment Woman opens with a zing of sichaun pepper and saffron, a blend that conjures exotic vistas but quickly settles into the beauty of the florals, a rapturous collection of green gardenia, narcotic tuberose, sweet orange blossom and sensual jasmine, so perfectly blended as to eliminate every spiked edge in favor of a harmoniously soft richness, sophisticated yet seamless, with extra heft provided by a just-present-enough base of warm papyrus and woodsy patchouli, topped with a tendril of incense. Mysterious yet gentle, exotic yet comforting, Figment Woman is a treasure.
